CRAWFORD TEXAS, and the PRESS
Aug 30, 2005 Random Thoughts
Last Saturday I went to Crawford Texas to support the anti-war effort. What I found was America in Action. I was very, very touched by the show of patriotism from both sides, and the mostly respectful honoring of everyone’s passionate beliefs, and divergent ways of showing their love for America.
While I am vehemently against any killing or war of any kind, and sometimes have a difficult time understanding why any human being would want another person killed, I do have a belief in the freedom of speech. And I was happy to see that on this day, Judith Miller aside, we were all Americans, gently but staunchly exercising our right to protest.
XDrive
Aug 26, 2005 Random Thoughts
Last week, I decided (finally) that it was time to get an external backup system. I asked several friends, who gave me probably a dozen options total. I looked at them all, and then decided that XDrive sounded cool, since I’m off site and traveling so often, and my data could find me anywhere. Neat.
I decided to download only the 15 day trial, and was a bit cautious as to putting in ALL of my credit card info (it remains to be seen what happens with that, frankly). But I did, and, tumbling along with me came my webmaster, Monica Holbrook of Nutshell Design. So we both signed up at the same time, and then went through the hell (did I mention it was absolute HELL) to ensure that all of the files I wanted included in the data transfer would be included.
Virtual Handshake
Aug 26, 2005 Friends and Partners
My friend and networking guru Scott Allen’s new book has come out. Called The Virtual Handshake:Opening Doors and Closing Deals Online (Scott Allen and David Teten, AMA press), and www.thevirtualhandshake.com, the book is all you need to know about how to manage relationships and networking on-line.
I know both David and Scott. They are fully committed to bringing folks the best available knowledge in the field (and, ahem, I should disclose that they’ve put some of my own thinking in there as well), and have solid material that will help you make sense of the linkages, friendships, business relationships and partnerships that you can incorporate into your business lives to enhance opportunities. Get ahold of the book: I’ve read it, and it’s worth the time, money, and effort. It will help your business flourish ethically.

Hi folks:
Does anyone know the name of an on-line backup program for my computer? I used to use @Backup but somehow stopped. Are they still the best? Anyone have any referrals?

Sales – The Process
Aug 19, 2005 Sales Related
Hi everyone:
I just came from a client site and got blown away, yet again, but how the current sales process acts as such a deterrent to people buying. Not to mention that it causes you (the seller) to end up using price as the sales differentiator (because when you attempt to use information, it ends up sounding like everyone else’s products).
